Growing up in the country with over 200 acres of woods and pastures to explore, I have a love for herbs and their myriad uses. For this reason, Llewellyn's yearly herbal almanac is always on my "must-buy-list". I always find one or two articles that spark my interest, and learn a great deal from the others. The 2008 almanac is a virtual treasure trove of information and I enjoyed every moment of it.

Of great personal interest were Patti Wigington's Endangered Herbs and Susan S. Weed's Banish Blemishes the Wise Woman Way. Even at the age of thirty, my skin is still prone to breakouts and Weed's suggestions have greatly reduced my breakouts and kept my skin moisturized, something commercial cleaners don't do. Wiginton's fantastic article went into detail about endangered herbs, ones that have become so popular their growth can't keep up with demand/harvesting. It was nice to see a different aspect of endangered species, but Wigington didn't stop there. She lists others herbs that are readily available that can be substituted for the endangered ones.

Don't forget to pick up your copy of this fantastic book!
