When we last saw Kye in Voyeur, also by Shiloh Walker, Kye was left to nothingness. He loved Ashlyn, his wife, more than words could ever describe, and now the barrier separating them cannot be broached. Ashyln belongs to Connor now, and the love they have for each other will sustain them forever. Connor and Ashlyn together, which is what he wanted, right?
What about Kye? Kye spends an indeterminate period of time helplessly watching a woman violently abused by two men. He'd do anything he can to help her. However, there is a barrier preventing him. As time goes on, the barrier gets thinner. He feels himself falling, as he had several time before, a very painful experience. Only this time he's not in nothingness. He wakes up, but who is he? First thing he notices is a lilac sky, then he notices he's quite different - his hair color, his physique and more.
What is happening to Kye? Why isn't he watching Ashlyn any longer? What about the glimpses into her life with Connor? Who is he watching now and who has he become? Something is of grave interest to Kye. He's watching a beautiful woman. What's more is the woman is wearing an odd necklace or amulet. What significance does this play in The Dragon's Warrior?
He hears a whisper, he looks into the eyes of a... of a... Dragon? Impossible! What does this dragon have to tell him? Where is Kye? And what is he doing there? For one thing, he finds out that someone called Eiona was to be his. When Kye hears this, he suddenly makes a connection. He now begins to understand his new role.
Eiona must escape. She's close, very close this time. She has lost her magic, but is determined to regain her focus. For one thing, she needs the power of the Oriniic, the homeland. As she is Orin, a priestess of the Earth, she knows she will find her center, and soon. The last time Eiona was in the open air, she was almost able to call him - Eilrah. She manages to do it! The dragon arrives to save her! But, as her captors catch her again, she hears a man's voice, Rue. Why is Rue here? What does he have to do with saving her? This is not the Rue she remembers! The Rue she remembers, the one she was promised to, was cruel, tainted and frightening. He is calling himself Kye. Can it be that he is to be her savior?
Kye shows that he is utterly compassionate in his driving need to protect Eiona. He may not fully understand why his life has changed so dramatically, but he definately rises to the challenge. Kye also shows an intense sensuality and the passion he and Eiona share is truly stimulating. Eiona is a woman of strength, a woman who has endured much and now must cope with someone who was an enemy before, but seems so very different now.
Two words describe The Dragon's Warrior - utterly intriguing. Shiloh Walker is one of the most captivating authors I have ever read. In this book, she regales her readers by making the transition from contemporary to paranormal with Kye's story. Not only will readers be thrilled that Kye has found a mate. But the fact that he has an entirely new life in a spectacular world is truly amazing.

Kye wants to do something really special for his wife Ashlyn. After an intensely satisfying bout of love-making, Kye tells Ashlyn what his fantasy is. Ashlyn doesn't want to admit she'd like what Kye is suggesting. Several months pass, and Kye and Ashlyn are at a hotel, for a sensual get-away. After a luxurious bubble bath, she quickly realizes she is not alone in the room with Kye. Kye has brought his best friend Connor to fulfill a fantasy he knows Ashlyn will enjoy. What's more is that Kye wants to watch Connor and Ashlyn together, and give her a night she will never forget.
Three years pass and Ashlyn is now a widow, as Kye has been killed in a car accident. When Connor arrives to help Ashlyn with the arrangements, he proves to be a strong source of support to Ashlyn. What Connor doesn't know is that Ashlyn is very drawn to him, even in her grief. Connor has spent years, nearly a decade, with very strong feelings toward Ashlyn. After their vigorous night together, three years previously, Connor is certain he is in love with Ashlyn. Being near her now is a test of his strength, and the loyalty he feels towards Kye. .
Something happens that brings Connor and Ashlyn together - something so incredibly intense and erotic that you may just have to stop and catch your breath. See, Kye is "stuck"... he can see Ashlyn and Connor. He can sense their pain and their desire. Will Kye be able to help them to bond in this time of need?
Each character in Voyeur will impact you one way or another. Connor has been in love with his best friend's wife for years. Yet, honor and respect for Kye meant more to him than anything, Ashlyn finds herself torn. She never met Connor before their exhilarating night, but she is drawn to him, thus creating a level of guilt. Kye is a man who loves his wife immensely, both in this life and beyond.
Voyeur is a book impossible to put down. Watching Kye watch Connor and Ashlyn is erotic beyond compare. Along with the astounding level of excitement in this book, all sorts of feelings are exposed: pain, love, passion, sadness, jealousy, fear and more. Ms. Walker has pushed the limit with Voyeur for this reviewer. I keep finding myself thinking of everything that happened in this book, and have even had to go back and re-read it!
There is a bit of good news to share. Kye has his own story coming up soon - The Dragon's Warrior - to be released by Ellora's Cave, September, 2003.
