Two anums ago, Mai Huan had met the love of her life. Unfortunately Vik was a fellow agent and she determinedly held fast to the Law Council code regarding relationships between fellow agents. The day their mission was completed and they headed in different directions Vik had kissed her. A mind-blowing, heart-stopping kiss. Just one kiss and it held the power to make Mai long to be Vik's forever. She'd never seen him again.
Stuck on a backwater planet as an informant, Mai longed to hear if her transfer had been approved. Nothing happened in this backwater place and nothing had happened in the entire time she'd been here. She's waiting for her contact to arrive and give her the code words "One Kiss" when a Neanthrope walks into the bar where she's set up shop as a body-piercing specialist. Something about this Neanthrope sets her body tingling. But why? She's only ever loved Vik.
When the Neanthrope walks to her showcase and asks for one kiss, Mai believes him to be nothing more than her contact. But when he repeats her last conversation with Vik verbatim, can she trust her heart and claim the love that is rightfully hers?
What a scorcher of a story! Elayne gives readers a world ripe with unforgettable characters, far away locations and just enough familiar items and laws to keep them comfortable. Her ability to meld science fiction and romance is undeniable and I couldn't help falling in love with Mai. One Kiss is the ultimate in sensual romantic science fiction.
