Genevieve Terrence wants nothing more than to put her days growing-up in the backwoods of Tennessee behind her. When her Granny Neville died in a plane crash, leaving behind a pair of Elvis Presley's underwear, Gen's mother Annabelle sold them for a pretty penny and moved teenage Genevieve and Gen's three year old brother Lincoln to Hawaii. Twelve years later, Gen works for Rainbow Software Systems and has a crush on her gorgeous boss, Nick Brogan. Nick has a love-'em and leave-'em philosophy when it comes to secretaries from the office, but Gen is still thrilled beyond belief when Nick finally asks her to accompany him on a trip to Maui. Gen is convinced she's different from the other women, and that she can convince Nick that she's the one for him.

A monkey wrench is thrown into the plans when Nick and Gen discover that Jackson Farley, the bumbling, nerdy computer programmer, will be joining them. With his mismatched clothes and big glasses, Jackson is the epitome of everything gorgeous Gen avoids in life. The three of them fly off toward their destination, but soon it is apparent things are going very wrong. Nick is flying the plane away from Maui. When he pulls out a gun and straps on a parachute, Jackson and Gen know they are in deep trouble. Thanks to practice with computer simulation video games, Jackson is able to land the plane, saving both of their lives, and they make their way to an isolated desert island.

What starts as a horrible situation quickly turns positive for the both of them. Jackson has been lusting after Gen from afar ever since he first met her. And it is now Gen's opportunity to make peace with the past she has always been ashamed of. The time alone together makes them turn toward each other, and into each other's arms. Sparks fly, and not only from the fire they build in their shelter. The passion heats up the longer they remain on the island. But what happened to Nick; is he out of their lives forever? Will they be saved before they run out of food and fresh water? And if they are saved, what will become of their relationship?

Vicki Lewis Thompson has written a red-hot romance in Nerd in Shining Armor. The relationship between Gen and Jack starts slowly, but quickly builds to inferno temperatures. The love scenes are explicit and will tempt readers to find a deserted island and a lover of their own! Each of the characters in Nerd in Shining Armor is described fully and has a specific role in the plot. From Annabelle to Lincoln to Nick's partner Matt, the memorable characters help to drive the story. Often a bit far-fetched and unbelievable, readers seeking a serious and realistic plot should steer away from Nerd in Shining Armor. But those who enjoy a bold love story sprinkled with humor should definitely pick it up.

If you are looking for a fun in the sun romp with intriguing characters and loads of lust, then look no further than Nerd in Shining Armor. You just may need a cool dip in the ocean waters after this sizzling read. Nerd in Shining Armor was the summer choice for the Reading with Ripa book club, and has catapulted this racy novel up the bestseller lists.
