Have you ever wanted to jump through the pages of a book and hug the main character? Well, hold on to your chairs; The Calling of Jujubee Forthright is that kind of book!
Jujubee is literally larger than life. At 300 pounds, and with a voice that ranges from baritone to bass and back again, he makes an instant first impression, but it's his eternal perspective that's captivating. As a celebrated auctioneer, he was loved by many, but when Jesus called him to "go forth and be right", Jujubee felt inadequate for the task. He immediately sought training, only to be rejected by both an exclusive Christian college and a fundamentalist Bible institute. So, he decides to follow the Lord's command the only way he knew how. Jujubee puts salvation on the auction block and calls for the lowest bidder. The concept is amazing and the results are extraordinary.
This book delightfully stands conventional Christian thinking on its head and gives it a spin! A philosophy professor, named Diogenes, meets Jujubee at an auction and instantly becomes one of his most avid followers. These two characters provide a thought-provoking contrast between the intelligence of men and the wisdom of God. As the pages turn, the simplicity and sincerity of Jujubee's faith proves to be stronger and mightier than the reasoning of those around him. One by one, scholarly pillars are toppled by the childlike intensity of a man who listens to God.
Readers will want to jump up and shout "Hallelujah!" during the final pages of this terrific book. Jujubee Forthright is a remarkable character with a heart full of love and a burning desire to serve the Lord. This story breathes a promise of the glorious power of God to save us, and the incredible ways in which He does just that.
