Diane and Teddy Barrows, along with their three children, stumble across an old castle while driving to Pennsylvania. Curious as it seems how a castle is in New England, they are caught in a bad storm, and need to stop at the castle to ask for shelter for the night.

The owner of the property is a Mr. Eripmav. He is aloof to his guests, and gives the Barrows the shivers while in his presence. Strange noises permeate through all of the building. The other guests are a strange lot that the Barrows' would rather stay away from. Diane just wants to stay long enough for the storm to blow over and be on their way the next day.

What Diane and Teddy do not know is that Mr. Eripmav is a vampire, and the other guests are made up of a variety of other vampires, monsters, witches and werewolves. Eripmav ("vampire" spelled backwards) and the others eat any humans who happen their way into the castle. Not to mention, that someone in the house is trying to create a race of human-killing monsters, in order to take over the planet.

Lovers of horror films will adore this story. It is filled with lots of mystery, blood and gore. After getting through a few pages, the story reminded me of the song, "Hotel California," by the Eagles. ('You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave.')

It is quite apparent a short way into the story that the creatures in the castle are evil and love the taste of human flesh and blood. For this non-horror film person, the blood and gore and body parts being thrown everywhere on almost every other page gets to be a bit much. However, the story itself is in a constant state of motion. There isn't much time to even take a breath between events taking place. The feeling of fear and apprehension oozes out of each page the same way blood flows out of a body.

Even though this is a bit too bloody for me, if you like horror, this will be a good read for you.
