Respected by his men and even the camp followers believed Captain Jake Braddock to be a good and decent man. Weary after a day of fighting he hears the cries of someone in trouble and rushes to lend them aid. He comes upon some of his men attempting to subdue a woman determined to have their way with her.
The men didn't expect laundress Faith Dempsey to be a wildcat nor did they expect her to fight back. Determined to find out why the men had attacked Faith, Jake pulls her out of the tent and takes her to his own tent to answer questions. The last thing he expected was the attraction blossoming between him and faith.
Spoils of War by Renee Peterson was a delightful and fast paced historical with highly erotic scenes. I was glued to the page wondering what would happen next. I loved the attraction between Faith and Jake, the way they were simultaneously attracted and frightened by each other. When you reached the end you couldn't help but wish there was more. I would definitely recommend this novella.
