A Lover's Kiss gently enfolds readers in a tender tale. This historical romance combines the odd bedfellows of patriotic allegiance and personal passion. When Sir Douglas Drury, Englishman, is rescued from a gang of thugs by Juliette Bergerine, a French woman, he doesn't know which situation is worse-the beating or the saving. As this man and woman struggle against their respective country's honor, love smuggles across the borders of their hearts.

Margaret Moore continues to craft tales that cause readers to sigh in pure enjoyment. In this novel, the tension between this man and woman is taut with patriotic jealousy and past memories of injustice. The apparently insurmountable odds against this couple include a gap in their social and financial standings, evidenced in their homes and acquaintances. Both characters possess an irresistible vulnerability that is accented by moments of assertiveness and genuine loyalty. Drury and Juliette will charm their way into readers' hearts, bringing with them their desires for love and happiness.

The historical element was well done, highlighting the harsh feelings between the English and the French. This was made more real by the scars and deformity carried about in Drury's body. Juliette's past had left scars of a different kind, maiming her emotionally, but never quenching the flame for a brighter future. Readers will eagerly anticipate the eventual joining of this couple, but as with every Margaret Moore book, the journey is as exciting as the destination!

A Lover's Kiss is a sweet treat!
