Can the Christian faith coexist with popular culture? In this convicting and convincing book, the answer is yes! And not only can Christianity exist in this atmosphere, but it can also thrive and have a positive influence.

Terry Mattingly writes a syndicated column called "On Religion". This book is a collection of some of his best essays. He examines the trends in popular music, movies and media, and then goes behind the scenes to reveal what these artists and entertainers think. The inclusion of a variety of contemporary persons helps to paint a more complete picture of the pop culture war. In fact, after reading this book, some may question why it's even called a war. Perhaps a better term would be a misunderstanding of the other side's mission.

What is completely refreshing about this book is that it presents facts and faith in a journalistic style. Readers are free to form their own opinions, yet they are also confident that they are given accurate and reliable information. Terry Mattingly seems to take on the position of ambassador to the camps of Christianity and entertainment, as he presents both sides of the issues to encourage discernment. Organized religion and mass media are two powerful facets of American culture. Understanding their respective viewpoints will go a long way to develop a beneficial coexistence.

This book educates Christians while explaining the influences that surround them. Realistic options for getting involved in the communication industry are presented. The author props open the door between the world of faith and the world of entertainment. It will be up to the reader to enter.
