Hey, this title is really true! When I was reading this book, (in a public place) I burst out laughing and my daughter asked, "Are you crazy?" I'm going to check my medical plan to see if I'm covered for getting too close to the infectious inspiration of Charles Marshall!

To say I enjoyed this book would be an understatement. It felt great to laugh out loud, even though several people wondered why I was so giddy and my daughter muttered something about "not taking her medication". And that made me wonder-has good old-fashioned split-your-gut laughing gone out of style?

Apparently not with Charles Marshall. This book is a collection of forty of his columns, which are organized into psychological-sounding subheadings, like Social Paths and Excessive Food Swings. Written in the first person, readers are able to get into the mind of the author (warning- it might get messy!). Practically every topic that has been considered taboo is mentioned here, and all these little essays are tied together with an appropriate spiritual application. The spiritual part, however, is not written in a heavy-handed style, but is more like the author patting you on the back and telling you something wonderful.

It's not easy to be funny, but Charles Marshall does it well. Comedians need to be a bit vulnerable to their audience so they can get close enough to tickle the funny bone. In this book, the author does that and then reminds us of a loving God who must also have a terrific sense of humor.

As for him being crazy...well, you're going to have to decide that for yourself. But first read pages 17, 21, 33, 46....hey, just read the whole book! If he is crazy and you catch something, believe me it will be worth it. And now it's time for my meds.
