It had been nearly nine months since her boyfriend had attacked her and Heather Grayson had been on the run since that night. If she stopped running, Cray McCorbin would kill her and her unborn child. All she needed was time and a place to hide. Florida during Spring Break seemed like the perfect idea. Plenty of women about to help mask her scent; if she can stay far enough away from humans at night to avoid hunting them.
A chance encounter with a student, Mike, has Heather in emotional turmoil. There was something about him, something that made her feel alive, special, and attractive. Now if she can only stay away from him once the moon rises.
Cray McCorbin and his true mate Cassie had been hunting for Heather since the night Graham attacked her. Cassie was impressed with her best friend's ability to hide and hadn't given up hope that perhaps there was a chance Heather could be saved. Be taught to control her change, no matter what her mate Cray said.
When a news report mentions a male mauled by a dog, Cray and Cassie are on the next plane to Florida. They have to find Heather and they only have a few hours before the moon rises. But when they find her and Mike, things become much more complicated. Not only do they realize Heather is pregnant, somehow she's also turned Mike into a werewolf without even biting him. A decision has to be made…and quickly because the moon is rising and Heather's gone into labor.
After reading Lycan Lore, I expected Offspring to be sensual, intense, and unforgettable. Leigh delivers beautifully! Honestly, I would recommend reading Lycan Lore before reading Offspring; while not necessary it does make Cassie's desire to save Heather more powerful. The world of Leigh's werewolves is unique; she's taken the traditional tales and given them her own unique spin. I look forward to reading more of Shannon Leigh's novels and hopefully, more Lycan Lore tales.
