Do you think your child could be the next Moses or Mother Teresa? If that sounds like a dream too big to imagine, then reading this book will enlarge your perspective on parenting. Dr. Tim Kimmel offers encouragement and inspiration within these pages. He identifies three critical areas of life that will define a child's potential for success. Parents can begin planning for these life-changing decisions now, thereby preparing their children for a lifetime of fulfillment.
The concepts in this book hinge on the definition of the word "success". Worldly and spiritual meanings are contrasted through a logical and evenhanded approach. The lives of biblical and contemporary people are examined for their enduring contributions to society, as well as true joyfulness and compassion. Practical advice and motivational quotes keep the enthusiasm level high, assuring parents that raising successful children is more than a dream; it can become a reality in every home. Key thoughts of each chapter are summed up succinctly in list form, creating a ready reference and handy summary.
The author has included a wealth of information in this relatively short book. His focus on key areas of a child's life- their mission, their mate and their master- highlights spiritual concepts that will outlast and out perform the worldly pursuit of success. Sound scriptural principles form the basis of this teaching, which is presented with Dr. Kimmel's direct and upbeat delivery. Parents will not feel overwhelmed with the ideas presented; rather, they will eagerly embrace them because they are explained in a relevant and realistic way.
Raising Kids for True Greatness raises the bar on parenting, by bringing down a taste of Heaven to every home.

Why Christian Kids Rebel is a handbook of help. The author has carefully and concisely put on trial various methods of conventional wisdom concerning the raising of Christian children. Although this book was primarily written to those who have become frustrated at the results of their spiritual efforts with their children, this reviewer feels that all parents will find guidance and hope within these pages.
As the title implies, this book looks at the "why" of a child's rebellion. Through the use of Scripture and personal accounts, the author traces the roots of defiance, which often leads back to the home. While most parents lovingly and earnestly try to do all the right things, this book shows that sometimes our best efforts may be counter productive.
Each chapter concentrates on a specific issue, allowing readers to thoroughly grasp the ideas presented. The author has also explored various "types" of Christianity, which he has labeled compulsory, cliché or cocoon, to name a few. He explains the reasoning behind each, and then details the potential harm that may result to the children as a result of adhering to any of these types.
Without a doubt, this book is a refreshing and bold new way to look at raising Christian children. The author writes with authority and a genuine sense of caring. As the founder of Family Matters, he is committed to encouraging and equipping families in issues of relationships. He has a real sense of today's youth and makes his points in a convincing manner.
Although not all readers may agree with every one of the author's opinions, this reviewer encourages parents to read this book. Dr. Kimmel uses Scripture to support his ideas, and gives liberally of his practical wisdom. It's safe to say that readers, who are also parents, will see themselves in these pages. This book will open the eyes of mothers and fathers and cause them to examine their homes and their parenting methods. Some chapters will be harder to read than others, but an in-depth evaluation of our roles as parents is important enough to put personal feelings and methodologies aside for the sake of the children.
Why Christian Kids Rebel will help parents turn the hearts of their children toward home.
