Hot Flashes and Cold Cream is a hold-your-sides, laugh-out-loud book! It doesn't matter where the reader is on the midlife countdown, because this book isn't so much about aging, as it is about living. Readers will follow the thoughts and actions of Maggie Hayden as she comes face to face with herself and the many changes her body and mind are going through.

Maggie has it all: a husband who works too many hours with a gorgeous assistant, a bald Chihuahua with three teeth, and hot flashes that can singe her eyebrows! Insecurities, realities and impossibilities fill her days with dismay and make her nights sleepless. In other words, she's just like every other woman. And that's why she's so terrific.

Maggie tries to change her life and the lives of those around her, often with hilarious results. Honestly, some of the things she does are just thoughts in the minds of most women! These pages are a delightful walk alongside a lady who loves and trusts the Lord, in spite of her difficulty to accept the changes that come her way.

Written with compassion as well as humor, this book will embrace the reader with tenderness, while coaxing a laugh. Maggie's Christianity is shown in a subtle, yet authentic way. As she struggles with daily situations, her relationship with the Lord deepens to a more purposeful encounter. She begins to better understand that while the outward body changes, there is a glorious renewal of the spiritual condition. All of this happens in a realistic way, as Maggie goes on living and loving the best way she knows how.

Hot Flashes and Cold Cream leads readers through the mines of midlife to a wonderful place of rest and refuge!
