It's impossible to read this book and not be moved. Once that first page is turned, the reader starts off on a pathway that is paved with one of the most horrific acts in history. In 1994, in the space of only 100 days, over 1 million men, woman and children were killed in Rwanda. This book reveals the soul of a nation that silenced the heartbeats of its own citizens in a macabre one-sided battle. The screams of the victims slice through these words and will echo in the minds of readers.

Although a complex and controversial issue, the authors explain the genocide with clarity. The political, social, religious and cultural conditions leading up to the genocide and existing today are delineated precisely and purposefully. Each of the underlying issues affecting this small African nation are defined with attention paid to the spiritual significance. The past social problems of this culture are shown to impact the people with a striking and forceful blow. It's noteworthy that the writing takes on a documentary style and doesn't seek to sensationalize this tragedy. The motivation of the authors is set on identifying the wounded fragments of these people with a view to the future.

The fact that these pages don't stop at the point of destruction brings the book to a higher level. There is a deliberate move forward toward the outstretched hand of Christ, which reaches among the ruins and leads the survivors to a place of healing. This book has the power to motivate Christians to expand the boundaries of their heart to include nations and people with different-and perhaps dangerous-cultures.

Christ Walks Where Evil Reigned is a chance for believers to put on the sandals of Christ and walk among people who desperately need Him.
