"Where was this book when I planned my handfasting?" were the first words out of my mouth after I'd read only a few chapters. A must have for anyone planning a handfasting or even a wedding, Anna Franklin's A Romantic Guide to Handfasting is an invaluable tool. Even authors will want to place this on their reference shelf.
With her easygoing style, Anna gives a brief history of handfasting before jumping right in with suggestions to make your handfasting unique and even more memorable. Suggestions for everything imaginable from flower and their meanings to what to wear and even suggestions on what serve and customs from different countries. Customs such as this one from Bermuda: the wedding cake is topped with a sapling tree. The couple plants this in their garden and watch it grow as their marriage grows. Wondering whether to have birdseed thrown? Why not try nuts? Yes, this a custom from another country.
With each chapter addressing a different section of the ritual it's easy to find exactly what you're looking for. Although with as fun and exciting as Anna makes the information you might find yourself reading the entire book in one sitting like I did.
Fun, informative, hard to put down and packed with ideas, A Romantic Guide to Handfasting is a definite must-have, guaranteed to help make your day unforgettable and spectacular.
