It's hard to know what to write about a tarot deck. On what basis do you recommend it? After all, just because a particular deck resonates with you, doesn't mean it will resonate with everyone. In the end, I suppose, one can only give one's impressions regarding a deck. So without further ado…
The Mystic Dreamer Tarot is visually stunning. Every single card demands your attention. It is quite easy to look track of time while poring over the cards. The cards are full of symbolism, some quite obvious; while the others require you to search within for the answers.
I have yet to see a more entrancing deck. It took me forever to actually write this review, because I kept getting distracted by the cards. I will say that this is the most aptly named tarot deck I have ever seen/used. Every card is imbued with a mystical/dreamy quality, beckoning you to explore the mysteries contained within.
In the guide to the Mystic Dreamer Tarot, author Barbara Moore opens with an introduction to the tarot. A brief history and overview of the cards is given, followed by instructions on readings/spreads. Then Ms. Moore moves onto the "fun stuff", a look at the cards themselves.
The interesting difference in this particular book in regards to Ms. Moore's previous guides is actually stated by the author herself.
This deck demanded that I give a basic traditional interpretation without judgment or commentary…"
Does that mean this book is less insightful than others? Not at all. With such an appealing deck, it is quite easy to get so caught up in the images that it can be overwhelming to interpret the cards. Having a down-to-earth reminder helps to focus one's thoughts and to pick out the symbolism of the different components in each card with greater ease.
An enchanting addition to any magical library!
