Set amidst the background of the French Revolution, Love's First Light traces the shadows created by this violent upheaval. Justice, revenge, love and hate race through these pages, scattering the lives of these characters while also joining them in one of history's darkest hours.
This well written novel brings this time period to life with engaging characters and a plot that pulses with passion and purpose. The gruesome guillotine deaths the Count of St. Laurent's family experienced quicken this story and give readers a strong motivation to discover the fate of Christophé, the only survivor. As this young man flees for his life, he meets a young widow who touches his heart with hope, yet she holds a dangerous alliance with his avowed enemies.
The blending of historical fact and intriguing fiction invites readers to a time and place that was pivotal in France's past. The dialogue and actions of the characters highlight the range of emotions during the revolution, from fear to mistrust to an all-consuming rage. Yet, the quietness and peace of Christianity gently influence the people and provides a haven in the midst of this hell. Physical and emotional struggles keep the interest level high, as danger and deceit are everywhere. As the larger view of the French Revolution is reduced to individual lives, this novel takes on an intensely personal tone, revealing universal traits that have steered the course of history for centuries.
Love's First Light illuminates a dark time in history while directing readers to the true source of light in everyone's life. Author Jamie Carie knows how to bring the principles of the past to today's readers in a relevant and riveting tale.

Wind Dancer flies, runs and glides through a story that whispers, shouts and cries. Set in the volatile and rugged period of the American Revolution, this book takes the 'wild' of the country's new beginnings, adds realistic and memorable characters, and sets them loose to fulfill their destinies. Echoes of this novel will remain in readers' minds for a long time.
Isabelle Renoir puts the 'her' in heroine. She embodies the independent, fighting spirit that created our country and sustains its freedoms. Raised in a frontier town, she and her brother were commissioned by the local priest to retrieve a set of books. Their trek across hostile Indian territory brought them face to face with unspeakable terror.
It also brought an American spy into their lives. Samuel Holt had dedicated his life to the birth of this nation, living, breathing and fighting for this dream daily. When he first lays eyes on Isabelle, he is captured by her fierceness and independence. But when all three are taken captive by the Shawnee, thoughts of freedom seem to fade in the smoke of the Indians' campfire.
Treachery and terror run alongside love and passion in this well written novel. The characters take the story and run, gasping for breath, eluding enemies and beckoning the reader to follow. The history of the nation's early days skillfully provides the backdrop for this adventure, as love and a couple's future become entangled in the Shawnee's rituals and customs.
There are tears and triumphs, death and life; the story moves from the impossible to the possible and back again with lightning speed. Isabelle Renoir is the poster girl for this time period and she is a character that is more than you can imagine!
Grab hold of Wind Dancer and get ready for a ride!
