52 stories in a 5-day format equal a yearlong devotional that was written to be lived. The authors chose significant narratives of the Bible and retold these stories in a lively and relevant manner. But they didn't stop there. Each tale is then viewed in its relation to the Christian belief system and the development of the believer's values. Readers are then encouraged to act out the principles highlighted in each story, making these biblical accounts step into today's world with the same power and purpose.

This book is perfect for the seasoned Christian and the newcomer to Christ. Although the word 'stories' is in the title, this isn't a child's book, artfully arranged for bedtime reading. Rather, the insights of the authors add an amazing level of originality to such notable narratives from the Creation to the Crucifixion. As each page turns, there is a tangible feeling of freshness and vitality to these words. The 5-day format keeps readers on track as each story is examined in a deliberate and practical pattern. A call to action is issued with each tale, bringing these foundational principles and precepts into everyday life.

Perhaps the best part of this book is its cohesiveness. Although each of the biblical accounts could be randomly read, when viewed together and in order, they form the complete message of the Bible. Jesus is elevated as Lord and Savior, making these stories more than tales; they become turning points in the world's history.

Complete, concise and definitely compelling, The 52 Greatest Stories of the Bible is one book every home should have.
