As I was reading this book, I thought about the tremendous impact these pages could have on current and future leaders. Ted W. Engstrom's sterling reputation is revealed in this compilation of his most valuable and powerful lessons. It's obvious from the legacy he left that he not only penned these words, but also lived by his own advice. The editor, Timothy J. Beals, has diligently selected essays that capture the essence and the energy of a man who served as a leader but retained the heart of a servant.

The book is divided into nine carefully defined sections. After first providing a working definition of a leader, the essays take that thought into various areas. Although the lens of leadership is viewed with a primary focus on Christian ministry, Engstrom's practical advice and admonition can easily be transferred to a secular environment. Interestingly, these pages do not come across as "how-to" but are more like a "why-to". The mindset and heart of a leader becomes the foundation for these essays, which provides a solid motivation and meaning.

Ted Engstrom has written over fifty books, and this anthology highlights some of his best insights. Although many of these essays were published decades ago, the content is as fresh in today's society as it was in a previous generation. Practical advice on planning and communicating is offered, as well as tips on making critical decisions and maintaining the right attitude. Biblical guidelines for establishing successful leadership strategies are explained with conciseness and conviction.
