Balancing suspense with a gentle note of compassion, Soul Haven makes a strong emotional appeal. The plight of the homeless, police brutality, and a dangerous experiment race side by side through these pages, as a delicate romance offers a breath of hope.

Policewoman, Renata Bowers, had a duty to uphold law and justice, which is why she became so angry at the apparently senseless violence inflicted on a homeless man by her fellow officers. After investigating Kale Tyrell, she discovered the life of this vagabond was shrouded in mystery. Because he became the prime suspect in his wife's murder, his stellar military career fell apart, forcing him to the streets. Renata's sleuthing led her to the conclusion that Kale was innocent of the murder, yet she couldn't understand the brutal treatment he was receiving from her department. In an effort to uncover the truth, Renata asked too many questions, until someone tried to silence her forever.

Well written, with a solidly created main character, readers will appreciate Renata's professionalism and integrity. Her sincere desire for justice, as well as a genuine compassion for others, seals this story with the perfect sentiments. The element of suspense, as evidenced in a deceitful and deadly laboratory experiment, held enough terror and technical terms to make it realistic. The intricate web of deception tightly knits the characters in a chilling embrace, and provides strong motivational cues for their actions. An unusual and gentle note of romance enters, which may seem a bit impractical at first glance. However, the author remained true to the emotional makeup of these characters, causing this surprise joining of hearts to be a valid response to the situations presented.

Soul Haven settles for nothing short of heaven!
