Wait Until Then makes the wonders of eternity understandable for young readers. A wheelchair-bound boy and his grandfather share family moments until death separates them, but doesn't destroy the expectations they built together.
Gorgeous illustrations and sensitive dialogue make this book a delight to read aloud. The relationship between Nathan and Gramps focused around their mutual love of baseball. The grandfather had played in the minor leagues, but Nathan's disability only allowed him to dream of the sport. Yet, through his grandfather's stories, Nathan vicariously entered the world of baseball, sharing the victories and memorable moments with a wonderful sense of reality. When death separated the pair, Nathan was comforted by his grandfather's past conversations about heaven, which gave him an assurance of eternity and a reason to hope.
Randy Alcorn placed some deep theological truths in a simple story, filled with family moments and lots of love. The idea of being limited in this present world is well developed through Nathan's physical condition as well as Gramps' increasing age. The dreams of grandfather and grandson remained out of reach until Gramps went home to be with the Lord. Nathan's realization that being with Jesus is just the start of a new life will comfort this young audience. The idea of playing baseball in heaven with his grandfather will bring smiles, while underscoring God's precious promises.
The scriptural truths are based on sound doctrine, the writing is age appropriate and the illustrations are stunning. Wait Until Then will be read over and over again.

Heaven for Kids takes the enormity out of eternity by bringing it down to size. Young readers will have some of their most perplexing questions answered simply and with biblically sound responses.
Randy Alcorn’s best-selling book, Heaven, brought vital Scriptural beliefs to adults, while this book has been adapted for a younger audience. The question-and-answer format provides an engaging interactive feel. The author’s writing style is conversational with the right touch of enthusiasm. Although filled with theology, these pages contain easily understandable truths that are concisely explained.
Most noteworthy is the fact that the topics covered are all relevant to this age group. Readers will find out if their pets will be in heaven or if they can play sports there. They’ll also have a clearer definition of ‘eternal life’ while understanding the divine purpose of heaven. All of these ideas creatively take the oft-obscure notion of the afterlife and make it pertinent to the present. In a fun and factual way, the author makes a bridge from the mind of God to the heart of children. He takes away the mystery of heaven by making it personally meaningful.
Each of the ten chapters begins with two quotes, one from the Bible and the other from the Chronicles of Narnia. These inspiring words set the tone of the chapters and highlight the biblical principles set forth. A summary of the Gospel is included, as well as the author’s desire that everyone live in “the light of Heaven".
Young readers will appreciate Randy Alcorn “sitting down" with them to talk about such an uplifting subject.
